Unlike many other east Asian foods which typically followed mass waves of immigration, Korean food took a little bit longer to gain a foothold here in the United States. Thanks to relatable foods like fried chicken, Korean barbeque, and food trucks, Midwesterners have embraced this flavorful style of cooking.

From trendy Korean corn dog spots to iconic Korean BBQ joints, there are so many delicious ways to enjoy Korean cuisine around the city. Let’s dive in.

About: Myungrang Hotdogs is a specialty brand of hot dogs that offers unique corndog style hotdogs packed with interesting flavors. The hotdogs are perfect for lunch or a late night bite, and Myungrang Hotdogs has already become a popular destination for a fun bite to eat while out for the night in the Short North. Location: 850 North High St, Columbus, OH 43215 Website: Myungrang Hotdogs

via Facebook About: Korean tacos are one of my absolute favorite fusion style dishes around. At Takorea, they take everything you love about sweet and savory Korean barbecue and combine it with the spice of Mexican cuisine. Although you can’t dine in at Takorea just yet, you can place an order for pick-up or delivery. Location: 1556 North High Street inside of the Game Arena building Website: Takorea

via Facebook About: CM Chicken offers Korean-style fried chicken. It’s ultra crispy and ridiculously good. If you’re wondering where to start, order their signature tikkudak chicken, which is fried and then placed on a charcoal grill in order to achieve a uniquely crisp, smoky flavor. Location: 1132 W Henderson Rd, Columbus, OH 43220 Website: CM Chicken

About: Gogi Korean BBQ offers naturally fed and free-range barbecue meats. The dining experience is always a joy, with efficient service and delightful eats. About: From Korean bbq to noodle dishes & stirfrys, the menu at Min-Ga Korean is perfect for large parties with varying tastes. Min-Ga Korean is tucked away on Bethel Rd, but it’s always fairly busy. And that’s because the food is incredible and the service is just as fantastic. Location: 800 Bethel Rd, Columbus, OH 43214 Website: Min-Ga Korean

About: Serving delicious, authentic Korean dishes, Restaurant Silla is one of the oldest Korean restaurants in Columbus. You can order both in person and to-go. I’m a big fan of Restaurant Silla, but even I can admit that at times, service can be a bit slow. But as long as you go prepared to take things at a slower pace and really enjoy the experience, you’ll have a great day. Plus, it will always be worth a visit for the Korean hot pot, which is near perfection. Location: 1802 Henderson Rd, Columbus, OH, 43220 Website: Restaurant Silla
